Trim & Baseboard Painting
Interior casings and baseboards in older homes collect dings and yellowed enamel. We clean, fill, sand and repaint with a durable modern enamel that stays white and brushes out smooth along every run.
Read moreCherokee Park is a quiet, established neighborhood south of downtown near the bay, and its homes call for patient prep, careful trim work and respect for mature landscaping.

Homes here sit on generous lots under old trees, with long drives and planted beds that owners have tended for years. That shapes how we work. We lay drop cloths over plantings, tie back branches rather than cutting them, and keep equipment on hard surfaces. On the houses themselves, trim usually tells the story: window casings, fascia and doors weather unevenly, and a sharp trim repaint can make an entire exterior look cared for again.
Many owners here are long-term residents who have repainted before and know exactly what they want. Others have bought an older home and are renovating it room by room. Either way, we start with a walk-through, point out what needs repair, and lay out a clear plan. Inside, we often repaint whole floors at once, along with doors, built-ins and stair rails, using brushes on fine woodwork so the finish stays smooth and even.
The neighborhood has a mix of older houses and newer homes built on original lots, nearly all single-family and some on the water. Older houses tend to have wood trim, larger overhangs and painted masonry, while the newer homes lean toward smooth stucco and detailed entries. Because the canopy is so heavy, roofs, gutters and soffits catch leaves and debris, and the trim underneath them stays damp longer than you might expect. That is usually where we find the first peeling and soft wood.
Some homes carry decades of maintenance: caulk layered over old caulk, paint built up on window sashes, and patches in different sheens. We remove failed caulk instead of covering it, scrape thick edges flat and prime repairs so the finish looks uniform from the street. Inside the older homes, original doors, built-in shelving and stair parts are common, and they reward hand brushing with a quality enamel that levels out without heavy brush marks. Nothing is sprayed indoors without full masking.
The shade that makes Cherokee Park so pleasant also creates its main painting challenge. Walls under the trees stay damp after rain, and mildew and algae spread on siding, soffits and porch ceilings. Falling leaves and sap leave stains of their own. Nearness to the bay adds salt and humidity. We clean thoroughly with a mildew treatment, let surfaces dry completely, and choose paints with mildew-resistant additives for shaded areas, while sunny walls get UV-resistant finishes.

We cover beds and shrubs with breathable drop cloths, tie back branches instead of cutting them, and keep ladders on hard surfaces where we can. Wash water is directed away from delicate plants, and we rinse foliage after washing. At the end of each day the covers come off, so plants are never left under plastic in the heat.
Black streaks on soffits and porch ceilings are usually mildew or algae, which thrive in the shade and humidity under big trees. Painting over them without treatment brings the stain right back within months. We clean with a mildew treatment, rinse, allow full drying time, and use a paint with mildew-resistant additives for those shaded areas.
Yes. A trim-only job makes sense when the body color is holding up but fascia, windows and doors look tired. We prep and repaint trim, doors and shutters, and we can touch up small body areas if needed. During the walk-through we will tell you honestly if the walls will also need attention soon.
